Chrysler may be down, but they’re not out. “I’ll be back” has a whole new meaning, as Chrysler has signed a deal (for an undisclosed amount) with the makers of Terminator: Salvation. Chrysler products will be featured during the film as well as in possible commercials and product tie-ins.

It’s an attempt at recognition on the big (and small) screen that’s been used a lot by The Big Three auto makers lately. General Motors vehicles was heavily featured in Transformers and Transformers 2, where Ford has been the maker of Knight Industries Three Thousand, the New KITT on TV’s Knight Rider. According to Reuters: “Critics of the deal think Chrysler’s cash is better spent elsewhere, especially since the company’s products are already well-known by the public. A better use of the bailout funds may be to directly market their cars and trucks to potential customers based on the merits of those vehicles, and not by product placement in a sci-fi/action flick.” When Salvation star Christian Bale was asked to comment on this marketing deal, well let’s just say he wasn’t to pleased:

Guess we’ll have to see how well this cash was spent on May 22nd 2009, when T4 debuts in theaters nation wide.
