Chrysler surprised fans at the 2012 North American International Auto Show with their 700C Minivan Concept.

It’s supposed to be the minivan of the future, so does this mean Town & Country will look like 700C in years to come? “The concept doesn’t suggest the styling direction for the redesigned Town & Country,” says one member of Chrysler’s team.

700C styling execution is one of many the automaker has created over several months. There is currently no intention to produce the concept at this time, but it still looks pretty.

Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne made it clear, the next generation Town & Country “will bare no resemblance to the current generation of minivans.” He wants exciting, head-turning styling for the next van.

For 2010 and beyond we’ll have to get used to this. Chrysler dropped a re-badged Fiat Lancia in Detroit at the North American Inter. Auto Show. Not that the Lancia has anything to ashamed of – it holds a 100-horsepower 1.4-liter engine produced in Michigan.

Fiat-Chrysler also plan on dropping Fiat’s little 500 model to the US in coming years, along with hybrid EV variants of both models.

Lancia already grabbed attention with its 2009 Geneva Auto Show debut, and is touted by Fiat as “an environmentally friendly car concept, being luxurious but accessible, spacious but compact, sparkling but frugal in consumption. At Geneva, Lancia is further enhancing its “green” credentials by presenting, as a world preview, a dual-power LPG and gasoline range. Known as “Ecochic”, the range includes the Musa and Ypsilon models fitted with the 1.4 liter twin-fuel engine producing 77 HP…”

Stay tuned, and keep an eye open on Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealerships near you later this year – as Chrysler Lancias will most likely be popping up.
